Nantucket Lighthouse School is seeking a middle school arts and humanities teacher for the 2016-17 school year. This is a full-time position at our satellite, downtown campus. Nantucket Lighthouse School offers a unique integrated curriculum incorporating art, hands-on learning activities, in-depth inquiry, and a weekly field trip program that utilizes a wide range of island resources and natural spaces.
The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of child development, strong interpersonal and communication skills, experience working with a range of developmental abilities, and a strong interest in curriculum development. Additionally, s/he must be collaborative, detail-orientated, interested in professional growth, and have strong communication and technology skills and experience working with middle school students.
Nantucket Lighthouse School’s arts and humanities teacher works on a team that consists of three full-time teachers and a variety of specialists. S/he is responsible for classroom instruction, attending weekly faculty and division meetings, as well as planning, organizing and advising a multi-age class.
