Nantucket Beadboard sheet and strip products for sale at attractive prices.
All goods are Moisture-Resistant Interior [MRI] or Moisture-Resistant Exterior [MRX], NOT the regular MRF product available in your local lumber yard.
When I first started selling Nantucket Beadboard, I tested the goods by placing samples in buckets of water for a week. At the end of that time, the MDF sample was a soggy crumbly mess, but both the MRI and MRX samples were still intact. They had swollen in thickness by up to 1/16”, but, importantly, not in width or length. This means that the sheets and strips would not buckle or warp in place when they got wet. When they dried they went back to ½” in thickness.
Sheet goods may be edge joined by simply butting them together, and are suitable for wall applications to 10’ 6” high, with baseboard and ceiling molding.
Shiplap strip products edge join via shiplap. These are suitable for ceilings and, placed horizontally, for walls, for the ‘Sconset cottage look. The strips may also be end joined easily [call for instructions on this], for example for a long porch ceiling.
