Nantucket Lighthouse School is seeking a full-time primary (1st Grade) teacher for February 5th – June 15th. Nantucket Lighthouse School is a dynamic, progressive school offering a unique, integrated curriculum that incorporates art, experiential and hands-on learning, in-depth inquiry, and weekly field trips. We are looking for a collaborative, highly motivated and detail-oriented educator to join our dedicated, experienced teaching faculty.
The ideal candidate has strong interpersonal and communication skills, experience working with a range of abilities, interest in innovative curriculum design and a solid understanding of child development. S/he must have strong writing skills, a demonstrated interest in professional growth and development, and experience with early literacy development.
In addition to classroom instruction and curriculum development, Lighthouse teachers are responsible for newsletter writing, timely correspondence with faculty, staff and families, weekly faculty and/or division meetings, Open House events, as well as planning, organizing and advising students.
