Project Manager

We are a busy general contracting company on Nantucket Island looking to hire an additional Project Manager to help us keep up with the increasing volume and scope of our projects. This is a full-time/year-round position (40-50 hours/week). Competitive salary and benefits.

The ideal candidate will exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills, be able to remain calm under pressure, be able to work autonomously with little supervision/oversight, and have superior time management abilities and an acute attention to detail.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

– Meetings and correspondence with architects, designers, and homeowners
– Preparation of bid requests from vendors and subcontractors
– Supervision and coordination of subcontractors; Daily quality control in the field
– Acquisition and dissemination of specifications; Provide subcontractors and vendors with copies of plans, schedules, specs, measurements, installation instructions, opening sizes, heights, widths, etc.
– Material take-offs and ordering
– Review and approval of shop drawings in accordance with all specifications and budgets
– Coordination of material submittals for approval from homeowners and design professionals
– Macro and micro project scheduling
– Value engineering to create cost savings for clients while accomplishing architects’/designers’ aesthetic intent
– Track material purchases from all subcontractors to ensure accurate billing to clients
– Establish and maintain standards for general site conditions regarding cleanliness, safety, and site efficiency

Requirements:

– Experience in construction or related trades
– Thorough understanding of architectural plans
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills
– Ability to remain calm under pressure
– Ability to work autonomously with little supervision/oversight
– Superior time management abilities
– Acute attention to detail
– Proven ability to manage others (+2 years of upper-level management experience)
– General computer proficiency; Knowledge of spreadsheets and Microsoft-based programs
– Valid driver’s license

Strongly preferred but not required:

– College degree or other higher education
– Knowledge of OSHA safety protocols
– Knowledge of Massachusetts state building codes
– Knowledge of building materials and experience with value-engineering
