Job Title: Office Assistant
Schedule: Full-time, year-round
Compensation: Commensurate with experience.
Description:
The Office Assistant is a key member of the NCTV staff. This multifaceted position requires a diverse skillset and the ability to wear many hats is required.
The Office Assistant position is comprised of, but not limited to, the following roles:
– Administrative Assistant to the Executive Director
– Writer/Copy Editor
– Education Coordinator & Instructor
This is a unique opportunity for someone interested in a hands-on experience at a public access TV station with lots of heart and a great staff.
We are looking for a full-time year round employee, to join our team.
The successful candidate will have a background in a combination of administration, writing and education.
Social media savviness & knowledge of the Google workflow is a must.
Essential duties will include, but are not limited to:
Administration:
– Greeting members and visitors to the station.
– Report to and work directly with the executive director and in close collaboration with the staff, to ensure smooth operations and effective collaboration on station matters.
– Manage office operations: field general inquiries, manage mailings and do requested research.
– Process new members and equipment check-in/check-out.
– Assist with general upkeep, organization and cleanliness of the facilities.
– Assist with filming projects when needed.
Writer/Copy Editor:
– Oversee the accurate and effective delivery of written materials including press releases, contracts and NCTV’s website.
Education Coordinator:
– Coordinate, schedule and register members for classes.
– Serve as editorial lead and instructor to student broadcasters.
– Develop curriculum for instructional workshops.
– Interview, select and manage student internships.
Requirements for success:
– Must be highly energetic, reliable, confident and enjoy working with members of the community with a sunny disposition.
– Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, communication and time management skills, as well as the ability to balance multiple issues and projects in a fast-paced environment.
– The tech-savvy candidate will also be comfortable with social media and file sharing platforms including Facebook, Instagram and Google, as well a Mac OS.
– Desire for continuous improvement, knowledge of administrative protocol and etiquette, with outstanding written and verbal skills.
– Work creatively and with flexibility in a collaborative team environment, operating autonomously under minimal supervision and to provide and accept direction, supervision and guidance.
– Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of experience, knowledge, skills and abilities
– Attention to detail, proactive, and organized with the desire to learn new skills.
An understanding of Nantucket and the island community is a plus, but not required.
Preferred start date of late August, with some flexibility for the right candidate.
